In Maryland, bicycles are considered vehicles, and as such, cyclists must devote as much attention to riding a bike as they do to driving an automobile. Riding a bicycle is environmentally-friendly, great exercise, and fun. Unfortunately, it can also be dangerous. Cyclists and drivers make mistakes that contribute to crashes.  Motorists should also show cyclists the same respect and caution they show automobiles. When a crash happens involving a cyclist and a car, SUV, pickup truck, or bus, it is the cyclist who is likely to be injured or killed. Cyclists, wear your helmets and let's all share the road.
