High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Permit Issuance for Plug-in Electric Vehicles

Please Note: Effective, September 30, 2022 the HOV sticker program will end in Maryland and the sticker will no longer be a valid option for using the HOV lanes in Maryland. You should remove the sticker from your vehicle after September 30, 2022.

The current HOV permit term is valid through September 30, 2022 and can still be issued by​: 
  • The dealership selling the vehicle;
  • In person at Vehicle Division, Counter 202 in the Glen Burnie, MDOT MVA. or
  • Mail the application to MDOT MVA, 6601 Ritchie Highway, N.E., Room 202, Glen Burnie, MD 21062.
Any new permits issued at this time will expire on September 30, 2022

D​rivers of plug-in electric or hybrid vehicles, titled and registered in Maryland, will be allowed to use the HOV lanes in Maryland regardless of the number of passengers, providing they obtain and display an HOV or HOV Hybrid permit on the vehicle.
